Sorry for just spamming this board but idk who else to ask.
Most nights when I'm trying to get to sleep my stomach muscles start tensing for seemingly no reason. After a while I can relax them, but it isn't voluntary/conscious. It's probably anxiety (just like my TMJ) but is this something anyone else has experienced? As I'm trying to sleep I can feel my stomach clenching and it's just really weird :/

I get really bad stomach cramps that are directly related to my anxiety! Similar to what you've described but most of the time it's not just tense it's also painful (I'm not sure if you're in the same boat).

I get tenseness in muscles and sometimes stomach like you mentioned, and it is usually caused by stress! It's not a fix-all solution, but I find peppermint tea can help your body relax a bit? Lavender can help too. Not to sound like a neurotypical with "have you tried kale or yoga???" lmao and certainly tea isn't going to cure the neurodivergent brain, but it can take the edge off at least.

I have a friend who swears by yoga -_- like thats great and all but I don't think it's going to cure two personality disorders. Glad I'm not the only one though. Might ask my doctor today about it (and will probably be told to exercise more). Peppermint tea is worth a shot, at least I don't have to buy a mat and sign up for classes. Jael Beth that sounds awful sorry to hear they're so painful. My jaw is painful, but my stomach isn't at the moment

I get this, but I have chronic illnesses that affect my muscles and joints so I'm probably not the most reliable source of information... But yeah, at least in my case muscle tension itself is usually helped by gentle stretches and some nice calming tea. As for the anxiety and stress if that is causing it, I hope it gets a bit better soon! Good luck.
