Shit Borderlines Do is run by a small team of people who are diagnosed with BPD. This is a blog for people with borderline, BY people with borderline. While we are not professionals, we do have personal experience, and many of us have schooling and other forms of training. We are working to build a community which fights stigma and supports healthy methods of coping and healing, as well as offers a safe space for people with BPD and encourages their healing.
We originally started over on Tumblr, and that blog is still running, and both this forum and the Tumblr will be updated alongside each other. We decided to create a side forum to open up more discussion with our followers. Sometimes, followers have the answers we don't.
Frequently Asked Questions
Honestly? The name started off as a complete joke.
In the beginning, the Tumblr blog was a far far different blog than what it is currently. Around that time, the videos called “Shit ______s Do/Say” were still popular. You say things like, “Shit Artists Do” and “Shit People Say To Photographers” as a way of making fun of stereotypes in good jest.
I ended up making a few posts on my personal blog tagging them as #shitborderlinesdo whenever I said something like “Not being able to figure out if you love someone or hate them! Lol! #shitborderlinesdo” Eventually, someone suggested a blog with a collection of Shit Borderlines Do for people to relate to each other.
And so was the birth of Shit Borderlines Do, where we started off making graphics with relateable feeling and experiences for people to reblog and say “Lol this is me!!”
It’s, uh, come a long way since then, but I’m proud of it. Over the years, SBD has become one of the biggest resources on BPD on the internet, and we're doing a lot more than giving people something to relate to; we're giving them information and encouraging healing.
Currently, we are not looking for new mods, but now that we have a forum, recruiting new mods both here and on the Tumblr should become easier. But right now, we are still settling into the new forum. When it comes time for recruiting new mods, a post will be made.
Absolutely.
While those diagnosed with BPD do take priority, as this is one of the only spaces on the internet which is made for them, we do welcome non-borderline members if they want to learn more about the disorder.
