Anonymous asked: Hi!! Ive been in a dbt program for abt 2 years and just finished, but i was never diagnosed since i was a minor at the time (tho i selfdxed). Now im supposedly recovered but i still have many symptoms for bpd. Do i have bpd even though im recovered?
Answer: It’s up to you whether or not you want to identify as borderline. Many recovered borderlines still experience symptoms, but do not identify themselves with the disorder because they feel their symptoms to not distress their life enough to warrant a diagnosis. Symptoms may always exist on some level, although they will improve over the years. Some people feel they will always be borderline as long as they have symptoms, and this is also a valid experience. Some will consider themselves “recovered” once symptoms aren’t as severe. It’s up to you whether or not you want to call yourself “recovered.” There’s no wrong way to do it. x
